Volunteer Spotlight: Anush Iyer
Using His Game Design Talents to Help Empower Women
As most know, Sambhali U.S. is a volunteer-run organization. What fewer people know is that many of those volunteers break into a sweat around web technology, video editing tools, and graphic design. Thankfully, Sambhali U.S. has people like Anush Iyer to lead the way. Thanks to him, website bugs get fixed, videos look seamlessly edited, and design elements are included in organizational materials that level up their eye appeal.
Anush, who has worked with Sambhali U.S. since 2021, is from India but was going to school in the U.S. when he first started working with the organization. He was looking to use his skills to bring about positive change. “I was very impressed by the work Sambhali U.S. does to support and empower women. I knew it was the perfect match for me. The 16 months I’ve been a part of Sambhali have been an amazing experience.” He does admit, however, that, “the time difference between the U.S. and India does factor in sometimes when I have to attend meetings.”
When Anush began working with Sambhali U.S., he was attending Penn State Hazleton. Today he is back home in Mumbai, living with his family, and working at a video game development studio as a designer. In his off time, he enjoys going to the gym, playing video games (of course!), and playing and watching soccer. While he has not been to Rajasthan to visit Sambhali Trust just yet, he looks forward to going soon.
Sambhali U.S. Vice President Ginka Poole sings his praises. “Anush has many talents and skills, but his unwavering dedication stands out to me. His heart is in everything he does. He teaches and inspires me all the time. His commitment to making the world a better place is truly exceptional. I can’t wait to play one of his video games!”
Says Anush, “Sambhali U.S. gave me an opportunity to give back to the community and to bring about a positive change. I genuinely look forward to volunteering as much as I can.”
