Volunteering with Sambhali Trust
Volunteering in India directly for Sambhali Trust offers an opportunity to learn from and support a locally-led organization with longstanding experience in grassroots development and women’s empowerment. Sambhali U.S. provides information and orientation for potential volunteers at Sambhali Trust, but all volunteer placements are reviewed, selected, and supervised solely by Sambhali Trust in accordance with applicable Indian laws, internal safeguarding policies, and program requirements. Volunteer roles are supportive in nature and are designed to complement, not replace, local leadership and staff. Most volunteer experiences involve working in a center, boarding home, or in another project directly involving the girls or women of Sambhali. Some volunteers also are involved in administrative and communications work.

“No matter how much I read about India beforehand, nothing could have prepared me thoroughly for the experience. India is full of wonders beyond your imagination (or at least mine!).”

“Sambhali Trust transformed my perception of life, culture, and feminism. As a temporary character in this larger story, I must accept that I likely took more than I gave. Yet, I feel empowered knowing that I could play an ethically responsible role in supporting an incredible cast of women in their unwavering fight for gender equality.”
