Two Shoes and a Dream

The following is taken from an Instagram post by Sambhali Trust on June 17, 2025.

This morning, a grandfather walked into our centre wearing mismatched, worn-out shoes. One broken slipper. One torn shoe.

He didn’t come asking for help for himself.
He came with his little granddaughter—quiet, shy, holding his hand tightly.

 All he said was:

"पढ़ा दीजिए इसे... मेरी हिम्मत यही है।"
(“Please help her study… she’s all I have.”)

No long speeches. No complaints.
Just a deep hope in his eyes that his granddaughter could have a better life than his own.

These shoes tell a story—

Of sacrifice.
Of silent strength.
Of the kind of love that walks miles without asking for anything in return.

We see people like him every day at Sambhali Trust. And each time, they remind us:
True change begins with courage, not comfort.

We are happy to report that the granddaughter, Medha*, is now at Sambhali’s Laadli Boarding Home, where she is thriving.
